CUSCO CITY TOUR
On the City Tour in Cusco, it is perfect to be able to acclimatize and have a preamble to the history and work of the Inca culture. You will visit the most important historical sites in Cusco, starting with a general introduction of the attractions found in the Plaza de Armas such as the fountain and the imposing Cusco Cathedral and then heading to Qoricancha – the Temple of the Sun during the Inca era and converted into the Temple of Santo Domingo by the Spanish conquistadors – both located within the Historic Center. In the second part of your tour, we will travel back to the times of the Inca Empire and visit the 4 archaeological sites around Cusco city including Qenqo, Pukapukara, Tambomachay and the highlight of this day: the Sacsayhuamán Fortress where you will be able to appreciate some of the largest stones among all archaeological sites in Peru – and still a mystery as to how they were cut and moved to this place. The panoramic view of these archaeological sites is simply spectacular. This is a half-day tour and you can choose to do it in the morning or afternoon.

Itinerary
ITINERARY:
For this tour, hotel and/or accommodation pick-up is 15 minutes before the tour starts.
We will start the tour in the imposing Plaza de Armas of Cusco, we will begin at the emblematic fountain where the guide will give us a brief introduction to the most important points of the Plaza de Armas, highlighting the majestic Cathedral.
Later we will head along one of the narrow streets like many in Cusco to the Inca Palace of Qoricancha, where the convent of Santo Domingo de Guzmán is also located, considered in Inca times as the most important palace built for the Sun God. At the end of the visit, we will board our tourist bus which will transport us to the 4 ruins which are located around the city of Cusco, arriving first at the archaeological site of Sacsayhuamán, which is strategically built on a nearby mountain from where you can see the entire city of Cusco. It is famous for its megalithic-sized stones worked in limestone rock, some of which are 9 meters high and weigh approximately 100 tons. The Inti Raymi or Festival of the Sun festival takes place here every year.
Then we visited the archaeological site of Qenqo, which means labyrinth or zigzag, it served a purely religious function and where it is believed that the Incas mummified their dead, in the outside has a semicircular enclosure with trapezoidal niches and a monolith that simulates a puma, which
It measures approximately six meters. Afterwards we headed towards the archaeological site of Puka Pukara, which means “red fortress”, since the limestone stones with which this site is built have acquired the reddish color of the terrain. This place had the function of strategic control of people who entered the city of Cusco in Inca times.
And finally, we visited the archaeological site of Tambomachay, or “tambo” meaning place of supply and rest, which were strategically located in the network of Inca roads, where we can also see water fountains for religious or supply purposes, as well as niches to house mummies and offerings, a truly magical place.
At the end of our tour, we return to our transport which will take us back to the city of Cusco and will leave us at a point near the Plaza de Armas, thus ending the tour.
