Huchuy Qosqo Trek to Machu Picchu 3 days and 2 nights is one of the shortest treks and the most suitable for those people who have limited time and would like to trek before exploring the citadel of Machu Picchu.
This hike offers incredible views of the highest peaks of the Sacred Valley mountain range such as Pitusiray, Sawasiray, La Veronica and Chicon, as well as crossing rivers, small picturesque villages where we can see animals such as alpacas, llamas, sheep herds and a variety of flora, such as alpine forests and fertile places where agricultural products are grown.
with the Huchuy Qosqo trek we will have the opportunity to explore the extraordinary terraces, esplanades, squares and the hydraulic system of the archaeological site of Huchuy Qosqo, in addition to ending this experience visiting the lost city of the Incas: the Sanctuary of Machu Picchu. Itinerary
ITINERARY:
DAY 1: CUSCO – TAMBOMACHAY – LAKE QORICOCHA – PATABAMBA COMMUNITY:
They will pick us up from the hotel in Cusco at 07:00 AM and enseguid we will go to the Archaeological Center of Tambomachay and from this point we will start our walk to Huchuy Qosqo. We will climb the mountainside for 2 hours approx. and we will reach the first pass, here we will have enough time to enjoy the breathtaking views of the Inca archaeological sites and the city of Cusco. Later we will descend towards the valley where we will stop to visit a small local village called Quesser Grande, then we will continue with the walk to Lake Qoricocha.
Arriving at this point we will enjoy a well-deserved lunch, we will also be able to appreciate a variety of birds that fly over the place and the benefits of nature offered by this area. Next, we will pass by the shore of thelake located in the area and from there we will walk 2 more hours until we reach the community of Patabamba, arriving we will be received by the villagers who will share their customs and traditions and a delicious dinner. We will spend an amazing night in acozy place under the stars.
DAY 2: PATABAMBA – HUCHUYQOSQO – LAMAY – AGUAS CALIENTES:
After enjoying a tasty and energetic breakfast we will start our walk along a path that will take us to the archaeological site of Huchuy Qosqo. We will pass through a small town, called Sihua; we will cross the Pukamarca pass (4150 masl.), from where we will have a splendid view of the Urubamba mountain range and the Sacred Valley of the Incas. We will continue our hike to the top and then descend until we arrive the community of Pukamarca where we will enjoy a refreshing lunch.
After this, we will continue our walk to the Puma punku canyon, a word in Quechua that means “the door of the puma”. From here we will walk along an Inca trail that will take us to the Mysterious Inca Archaeological Site of Huchuy Qosqo, which means “Little Cusco” perched on the Sacred Valley of the Incas at 3600 meters above sea level. Here with our guide we will explore all the incredible Inca buildings of Huchuy Qosqo as well as: The Sacred Temples, The Inca terraces that they used for agriculture, Warehouses and the Inca Reservoir that served for the storage of water during the dry season.
After visiting this Inca site,we will continue our walk downhill to the town of Lamay for approximately 2 hours. Upon our arrival in Lamay, we will board our tourist transport that will take us to the Ollantaytambo train station. Upon our arrival in Ollantaytambo we will take the train that will take us to Aguas Calientes (2 hour trip). Upon arrival in Aguas Calientes we will go to our corresponding hotel to spend the night.

DAY 3: MACHU PICCHU SANCTUARY TOUR – RETURN TO CUSCO:
In the morning at the time indicated according to our guide, we will go to the bus station to have a 30-minute trip. We will follow a zigzagging route until we get the Sanctuary of Machu Picchu that is located at the top of the mountain. Finally we will enter the Citadel of Machu Picchu to start the guided tour, our professional tour guide will show us the history of this Mysterious Inca Citadel; We will visit its enigmatic attractions such as: the guardian enclosure, the temple of the sun, the Intiwatana, the temple of the three windows, the sacred square, the temple of the condor, The Sacred Rock and others.
Finishing the visit of Machu Picchu we will get on the bus that will return us to Aguas Calientes where we will have free time for lunch (not included), at the indicated time we will board the train that will take us back to the Ollantaytambo station, it is at this point that a staff of the agency will be waiting for us to be transferred to the city of Cusco in tourist transport.
